What is a Blog and When did Blogging Start?

What is a blog?

I was searching the Internet for an online business to start that is fun, profitable, and valuable. I noticed many content creators already talk about or have a published blog, sharing blog links via social media; I sure have heard and seen the word blog many times. Still, I know nothing about it, so I researched what a blog is; if blogging is an excellent opportunity to start an online business, why not create my blog? Here is what I found out about what a blog exactly is.

The blog is a short word for weblog; it is a kind of an online published journal where an individual author/blogger or a group of authors write down and post formal or informal discussions/educational/informational articles known as blog posts about different topics/niches such as health, fitness, finance, politics, technology, lifestyle, gaming, parenting, and even personal diaries; moreover, they keep updating content articles/posts regularly and consistently to keep the information they provide relevant and current.

When did blogging start, and how?

Blogging started in the 1990s as an online personal diary; some individuals used to write about their day-to-day life and share stories and discussions with their colleagues, friends, and families; blogs kept on growing and diversifying as the Internet, web, and social media evolved, people started to write and post about everything they are interested in and share using the various social media platforms, there are now many types of blogs, for different purposes, unlike the 1990s.
